“Every time I refer a constituent to FLC I get rave reviews about the services and the kind and respectful treatment that clients receive.”
—State Representative Smitty Pignatelli
In 2011, I faced the end of a marriage and bankruptcy. The Berkshire Center for Justice (formerly the free legal clinic) was there for me – they had just received a grant that was used to help us get through the legalities. Audrey Eve Schatz immediately held me back from the precipice of falling into a deep well of shame and self-beration that can accompany this journey. Loss can happen to anyone at anytime. I wouldn’t have been able to rebuild my life as well as I have without receiving the services offered by her organization. Help her raise funds for those in our community. JAB
FLC clients are grateful to receive the clinic’s services, and community leaders have welcomed FLC as a valuable new resource. The following represent typical responses:
“I don’t qualify for Western Mass Legal Services and can’t afford an attorney. FLC is helping me with my divorce, and I’m glad it exists in my community!”
—N.S., Great Barrington
“I had overwhelming medical and debt issues and FLC helped me get my life back on track. It’s really great to live in a community that cares!”
—A.D., Otis
“The Free Legal Clinic has been invaluable to me in times of need by providing timely, reliable and confidential assistance. I am grateful to Eve Schatz for founding the clinic here in South Berkshire County. It is a vital resource for our community. Many of my dear friends and colleagues in the art community have also been satisfied with the care and expert attention provided by FLC. On behalf of all of us, Thank you!”
